Hill's Science Diet

I do not usually endorse any and of dog food .But,I have to make an exception to this brand of dog food.I am a BZZ Agent.And as a BZZ Agent I am given the opportunity to test and try new products on the market.One of the products given to me was Hill's Science Diet Ideal Balance.
With all the recalls on dog food and treats I am careful of what I feed Gracie.I read labels,refuse to purchase ANY product made in China.I also keep my eyes open for any by products in the food.Meat by products could be anything,point being,it is not natural or healthy for your dog.
When I first opened the bag of Hill's Science Diet,the food looked different from other dry dog foods,it was not greasy,did not smell and I noticed Gracie was watching me intently with her nose going a million miles a second.I did not have to entice Gracie to eat this food,she dug right in.And Gracie is THE DIVA around here.She does not eat just anything.She will not eat anything she does not like.I have a treat box filled with packages of uneaten Gracie Rejects.So,when I find a dog food that is wholesome,no meat by products,no fillers,I snatch it up.And Hill's Science Diet Natural Balance is one of the rare products that Gracie will eat and I feel good about buying.
Not only did she eat it,but the results were amazing.Her coat got thicker,shinier,and softer.She has a black face,and it literally shines with health.Her shedding was a major problem.Hair was everywhere,literally.But,now when I comb her,there is hardly any hair left in the comb/brush.
I cannot say enough about Hill's Science Diet Ideal Balance.It is one of the best dog foods on the market right now.If you feed Wellness or Halo,you'll be happy to know that Hill's is just as good if not better.Give Hill's 60 days,see if you don't switch too.<img src="http://img.bzzagent.com/image/hillsIdealBalance.jpg?Type=activity&Activity=5074572745&Campaign=8634379888&Uid=261747&token=b9a63e6cd0c43fc8223c3f92ee68beec" alt=""/>t
 

Another Recall

Again thanks to China,there is another recall on pet products.What I cannot understand is,why would anyone buy products fromChina inthe first place?Did they not poison the dog food a while ago?I'm sure 99% of dog and cat owners know about the first recall.Quite a few pets died.If you managed to not have your pet poisoned at that time,why would you take a chance again??I know,I know,most dog and cat treats are made in China.But,there are some really good treats NOT made there.Made in the USA is the only pet food or treat my Gracie gets.I made the mistake of buying treats from the Sargents brand.I thought,wrong of course,that these treat were made here,in the USA.No,they along with so many other brands are made in CHINA.I took them back to the store.Most grocery stores do not carry the better brands of dog/cat food or decent treats.I have resorted to going on line,to PetCo and PetSmart, and other online sites.Doggy Loot has had some great deals for all things dog.Dogster has also had some great discounts for pet food/treats on a couple of new sites.Rotations dog food was one of the best deals.I paid 10.00 for 35.00 worth of dog food,and it is made in the USA.But,most importantly,Gracie loves it and it is good for her.No fillers,no garbage.There is not a dog treat made that I have not tried with Gracie.Most she refuses to eat.She loved Dingo's brand.But,Dingo's are made in China.I know,I thought they were made here.Dogswell Chicken Jerky is another favorite,not anymore,made in China also.I have gotten to the point where I have been buying Beef Jerky made for humans to give to Gracie.I love my dog,just like you do.I am not willing to risk her health because I'm too busy to read a label.It only takes a minute,you read the labels for your food,right?Your dog is a member of the family,right?Read the labels,find out where your dog or cat food is made,you might be surprised.

Welcome To A dogs World

This is Gracie at about 2yrs. old.I still cannot get over the fact that when I brought her home from the SPCA she was only 4lbs and could literally fit in the palm of my hand.Now,at almost 5yrs. old she has lost that puppy cuteness and become a beautiful dog,people stop me in the street to let me know how beautiful she is,heck I know that.But,it is still nice to hear and say what you will,but,Gracie seems to walk with more of a wiggle when someone tells me how good she looks.Dogs do not understand?I think they do,but why would they want us 2 legged to know that bit of information.We might try to make them do more than they are willing to do.So,keeping that bit of information under the rug,is better on dog and human world.I honestly do not think we,2 legged could handle the possibility of our dog being smarter than we are.

Review of Milo's Kitchen Chicken Jerky

Gracia is one tough customer when it comes to any type of dog treat.I call her "The Diva"because she will not eat just any ol'treat.When my local market started getting rid of some of the cheap treats in the dog section I was kind of worried that they might be replacing the treats with treats that were really cheap and loaded with garbage,to my surprise they replaced one brand with Milo's treats.Milo's kitchen also makes beef flavored jerky,Meatballs and of course the Jerky made from Chicken.The price wasn't bad either.I bought two packages,one chicken jerky and one meatballs.I have learned through trial and error,on my pocketbook,that to buy anymore than this is a big mistake.I have more packages of uneaten,rejected treats than I care to count.The Diva actually liked the Chicken Jerky,the Meatballs ,well,she liked them but it looked like she ate them because they are beef,and I never by beef ANYTHING.If she has to choose,the Chicken Jerky will be her pick.I am a label reader,anyone who is concerned about their health,and your best friends health,should always read the labels.I have the attitude of,"if I cannot pronounce it,or it reads like some type of new organism,steer clear.I check on the Internet for contents that I have no idea what they are or are made from.There are only 4 dog foods I highly recommend,and that's because I have fed them to Gracie.I do recommend Milo's Kitchen Treats,not an everyday treat but if you find them it is safe to buy.I personally like the fact that The Diva likes them and that my local Grocery store carries them for a very reasonable price.

Treat Reviews

I came to the conclusion after doing some spring cleaning,that I should do some blog posts on Dog Treats.Since I have bought just about every Dog Treat available in stores and online,I think I can give a good opinion as to which treats to buy and ones to avoid.I never realized how many treats I had gotten for Gracie until I started pulling out storage boxes with unopened and opened treats.Not all treats are edible just ask Gracie.More times than not she turns up her nose at most of the bags I bring in for her.So,at least for the time being,my post will be about Dog Treats.I will of course include photos of each bag I review.The first Post will be on May 1,2011.It seems like May might be a good month to start this new venture.I still plan to rant and rail against some of the stupid and careless thing I see dog owners do.That will never stop.I hope that my Treat Reviews will catch on and help at least a couple of people from throwing good money away.

Dog Park Behavior DO'S and DONT'S

I enjoy taking my dog Gracie,a Catahoula,to the local Dog Park.It allows her the time and place to run without a leash and the threat of being hit by a car.
What I do not like is,after a walk with Gracie to the Park,I end up standing OUTSIDE of the fenced in area because someone has brought their kids!Not just older,10-12yrs olds,that s bad enough.No,they bring in little kids,2 and up.One brilliant parent even brought her 18mo. old!Not only is this ignorant,it is dangerous.Gracie has not been raised around children,so they scare her.And what will a scared dog do when frightened?They bite,jump,growl,you get the idea.Gracie has never bit anyone,and I want to keep it that way.I do not have any kids,mine are grown and gone,Gracie is my four legged kid,and I do everything I can to protect her.She cannot run the neighborhood,play in a playground,or play with other children.Two Legged children can.The dog parks are for DOGS,it is the one place that we dog lovers and dog parents go to let our dogs run wild,socially interact with other dogs,And sometimes we dog Parents are able to talk and trade information in regard to our "kids".I should not have to ask you and your child to leave.If you come to the dog park with your dog,great.Gracie and I would love to meet you and play.But,if you must bring a 2 legged child to a dog park with your dog,maybe it would be best if you stayed home.I do not take Gracie to a child's play park,show the same consideration for me at the dog park.Another big problem is people who bring dogs that are not socialized.If your dog bites,do not bring him to the dog park.It is not my responsibility to socialize your dog.If your dog is dog/people aggressive DO NOT bring him to the dog park.I will call the SPCA if your dog bites me,my dog or someone else.Use some common sense.Another social responsibility is PICK UP after your dog.The dog park is not a wide open "POOP PATCH".I pick up after my dog,because it is just common sense.I do not want to step in poop,nor do I want Gracie exposed to your dogs feces.It is unsanitary and spreads parvo and distemper among other things.The dog park is not a dog sitter,don't bring your dog to the dog park and then go sit/lay down and ignore him.If you don't want to play with your dog,that's OK,but at least watch to make sure your dog is not destroying everything.If you can't control your dog,stay home.I take Gracie to the park so she can play with other dogs,get some exercise,without a leash.

Best Of the Dingos

I just did another review of the Dingo Brand dog bone chews.I have to admit  that even though these are a little on the high side money wise,they are one the best dog treats around.Gracie,myCatahoula is really picky when it comes to treats.And will not eat just any ol thing.I have trie just about every treat on the market.Except for the store brans and the real crappy ones.I am pretty choosey about what I give Gracie.I read the labels,I think everyone should.If I cannot pronounce the item I will not buy the product.I love my dog,she is very important to me,and because of that I make sure that what I feed her is NOT going to kill her.Just as I refuse to buy anything from China for myself,he same goes for my dog.So,if you have the chance,buy DINGO brand dog chews for your dog.You can rest easy that they are safe and your dog will love them!
